The Elevator Pitch? Yes. It’s outside.

Working in a Company that operates on Nepotism can be interesting, amusing and extremely frustrating. I've resigned to being content in my own space until I can find a better opportunity. That is not to say, however, that I don't pull my own weight, because I do. These days, I'm just more careful with the way I handle things - I try to avoid situations where the boss' pets can throw me under the bus. So what's this got to do with an elevator pitch? Bear with me. You'll see. Hiring talent and managing it can be quite tricky. In a Company that prides itself on Nepotism, I think it's … [Continue Reading...]

Fiction : Our Old To-Do List

Our old to-do list remains stagnant. Written inside the pages of my small, blue leather journal, it sits on the far end of my bookshelf, in a forgotten corner, covered in dust. Do you remember those times? When we sat together and wrote down our to-do lists? The things we wanted to see, the places we wanted to go, the things we wanted to achieve in life - together? Do you remember? I close my eyes tightly and my mind takes me to our distant past; the scent of your perfume as it permeated throughout our beautiful 2-storey home. Red concrete floors, white walls and the jet black … [Continue Reading...]

I’m Being Featured On AllFookedUp Today!

Okay, when I was trying to log into my Wordpress account, my first attempt FAILED. It said : 'dylan' is not a valid user name. I almost had a heart attack! I thought that someone had hacked my blog! ...but as it turned out, I had all caps on. I probably pressed it accidentally. (Yeah, I can be real smart sometimes, I know.) Sooooo, today is a wonderful day because I'm being featured at Lynn's place! - Allfookedup.com Lynn is hilarious and her website happens to be a popular humor blog so I feel honored to be featured there. (I could do the whole Oscar speech here but I'd bore … [Continue Reading...]

The Sunshine Award

You know, just when I was thinking about shutting this site down, (which is an entirely different story), I got The Sunshine Award. And, I was given this award by none other than my good friend, Stephanie M. Neighbor of ChuckleSpace. Steph has been wonderful. She's always been supportive of me and my rants. In fact, after I dropped out of Twitter for a very long time, it was Steph who brought me back. She mentioned me on Twitter and the rest is history. So, Steph, thank you for the support, the laughs and for making my crappy days brighter with your awesome sense of humor. The … [Continue Reading...]

Introspection and Reflection

I started this blog in the year 2012 with one thing in mind. Self expression.   I wanted an outlet to (unapologetically) express myself; a platform for the good, the bad and the ugly that goes on in my life. I wanted to share my experiences with those who were going through their own personal turmoils because I am no stranger to these hardships. I wanted to make people smile and I wanted to make people laugh.   At the time, I didn’t have a ‘focus’ other than to write. My topics varied from my personal life to art, music and writing. If you have ever read anything about starting a blog, you’d know that focus and relevance is essential. And, while I was aware of this, I defied the ‘standard’ and did what I enjoyed doing. I wrote whatever came to mind...which, any … [Continue Reading...]

Suspense music!) 1.Post the Sunshine Award Logo that appears in this post. 2.Accept the nomination and link it back to the person who nominated you. 3.Answer the questions listed … [Continue Reading...]

Bear with me. You'll see. Hiring talent and managing it can be quite tricky. In a Company that prides itself on Nepotism, I think it's safe to say that 'talent' or 'skills' do not take precedence over ass kissing...unless the talent is ass kissing...but obviously, we don't sell that as a product or service in the place I work … [Continue Reading...]

Another Health Scare : Is it Rheumatoid Arthritis or Lupus?

Sometimes when I go through stuff, I tend to isolate myself. I don't talk a lot. We all have our ways of dealing and coping and sometimes I have the tendency to shut down, clam up or whatever you want to call it. On May 06, 2013, I woke up and my hands were very swollen. The swelling started days before but it seemed to have gotten worse that morning. I was petrified. The swelling was accompanied by pain in my finger joints so I decided to go see my doctor to find out what was going on with me. Endometriosis symptoms can vary from person to person. I wondered whether or not my new symptoms had anything to do with this disease but I was also concerned of the possibility that there may be something more sinister at play. The possibilities are scary. So I went to see my doctor … [Continue Reading...]

The Very Inspiring Blogger Award

I haven't been writing again, I know. This post is long overdue and I'm embarrassed to be writing about this almost a month later. (It's pathetic, I know.) I feel extremely humbled to be given the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Truth be told, I think my posts have been rather dark and dreary as of late so I wasn't expecting to receive this. But, I am extremely humbled and grateful. It warms the heart... ...And the person who gave me this award is none other than my Tweetpea, Colleen M. Albert. She is such an amazing writer. I feel extremely blessed to get noticed by her. If you're on my Twitter list, you probably know her by now, especially with all the sweet messages I like to Tweet to her. (Yes, it's enough to make some of you barf, I reckon. But that's okay. You're just … [Continue Reading...]
